The year was 2012 when the first 4G service was launched in India by Airtel. It’s been 9 long years since we are using 4G network in our country. But the time has come when we will be able to move to 5G network and it will impact our experience in several ways. It’s not too late to announce the 5G launch date in India.
DOT Hinted 5G Launch Date in India
According to a report, DOT has told that the 5G trial will begin within 2-3 months. And once the trial begins, it won’t take long to launch 5G services in India commercially. Applications for 5G trials using several technologies was sent to DOT recently. Parliamentary panel also questioned DOT why 5G trials have not been allowed until now.
Even though the telecom service providers (TSPs) sent applications urging 5G trial allowance back in the very beginning of the previous year, it has not happened yet. But the telecom department have already started setting up specific 5G use case labs in association with different departments and ministries.
So finally, we can expect the 5G trials to be started in next 2-3 months. But the spectrum auction for the 5G airwaves in the 3300-3600 MHz will get delayed further. So it will take about 12 more months to announce the 5G launch date in India by Department of Telecommunications.
